Don’t miss the 13th annual Eco-Friendly Garden Tour on May 13, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, now back in person.
This year’s tour will showcase gardens with a native focus and emphasize the importance of adaptable plants in changing climates.
Events will include a plant sale and informational tables by gardening programs.
Home Ground Habitat in Novato is one of the featured gardens that demonstrates a sustainable, organic approach to California-friendly landscaping using native plants.

Teliha Draheim, Watershed Approach to Landscaping
A professional landscape designer who brings a high level of creativity and imagination to the design process, offering sustainable design services employing the watershed approach to landscaping. Teliha currently teaches classes in landscape design through the Watershed Approach to Landscaping (WAL) series, a program she co-created with Charlotte Torgovitsky, currently offered in the Spring and Fall semesters through College of Marin Community Education and sponsored by Marin Water.
Audrey Fusco, Salmon Protection & Watershed Network (SPAWN)
SPAWN works to protect endangered salmon and the environment on which we all depend using a multi-faceted approach, including grassroots action, habitat restoration, environmental education, collaboration with other organizations, and more. Learn from Audrey how SPAWN and HGH are working together to bring nature to our schools.
Charlie Kennard, Basket Weaver
From San Anselmo, Charlie is a long-time basket weaver and student of California Indian and other traditional basketry techniques of the world. He has been growing basket willows since 2011 at Green Gulch, and has created several Japanese-style bamboo fences at the monastery. He has taught for the Point Reyes Field Institute, East Bay Regional Parks Botanic Garden, Fibershed, the Laguna Center, and in many schools and at teacher trainings. Tule boats made in his workshops can be seen at the Bay Model in Sausalito, Lake County Museum, and another is in the collection of the Oakland Museum. You can also visit a basketry plant garden Charlie has created at the Marin Art and Garden Center in Ross. Charlie is active in wildlife habitat restoration in Marin, managing several projects for Friends of Corte Madera Creek Watershed

At 1:00 please join Marin Master Gardener and Home Ground Habitats founder Charlotte Torgovitsky at our work canopy for an informal presentation about the wide array of local pollinators: Honey Bees and Beyond.
