Visit the UC Marin Master Gardeners’ table to learn how to create a beautiful, sustainable garden while following recommended fire-smart defensible space guidelines. We will share recommendations for plant placement, spacing, and maintenance for the different defensible space zones around your home that can improve the chances of your home surviving a wildfire. Suzanne Bontempo of OWOW (Our Water Our World) will be joining us to share her knowledge on eco-friendly pest management, as well as tips for growing healthy gardens that support habitat. Our Water Our World is an award-winning partnership between city- and county-based water pollution prevention agencies and garden centers and hardware stores that sell pest control products to raise awareness on how to choose eco-friendly products and techniques in lieu of harmful pesticides that impact wildlife and ecosystems when they reach local creeks, bays, and the ocean. www.ourwaterourworld.org
